Atlanta trap artist Offset kicked off his Friday on the Ellen Show, where he discussed his latest album ‘Father of 4’ as well as his family, his relationship with Cardi B., and other aspects of his personal life.
In regards to his album, Offset discussed that his purpose behind the project was to send a message to men that it is okay to make mistakes. Specifically, Offset wants fathers who are estranged from their kids to know that it is never to late to establish a relationship with them. He then goes on to talk about his estrangement from his own father, and how he continues to reach out to him:
“I have a father that I don’t know of. He still runs away from it. I don’t get it. I’ve invited him on interviews and all types of TV just to get in contact and he’s still dodging.”
‘Set also got personal about his relationship with Cardi B. After cheating rumors began swirling, Cardi made a public statement that she was separating from her baby’s father. After that, Offset made various public gestures that ended up getting him ridiculed on the internet.
“It’s just me being vulnerable, I guess, and it kinda bit me with the response of the people. But that’s why our men don’t be trying to be vulnerable. Because when you do it, it’s like, ah, there’s something wrong with it either way.”
Overall, Offset just wanted people to understand the importance accepting responsibility for wrongdoings and that it is never to late to make amends. Offset closed off the interview by having his son bring out a $25k check to donate to Ellen’s charity, The Ellen Fund, which supports global conservation and endangered species.
