J. Cole is back with the visual for his latest single, “Middle Child.” The rapper took to social media last week to announce the video’s release, and delivered on his promise this past Monday (2/25).
The video opens with J. Cole rapping the song’s chorus, stoically standing in the middle of a darkened space. The lights suddenly come on to reveal a crowd of high class people, cheering and mingling. The lights cut back off, and when they come on again, all of the people were on stretch mats covered in white sheets. The scene then shifts and Cole is in the dirty Bentley he described in the song. In another scene, Cole is relaxing in a living room, with various mounts of rappers’ heads on his wall.
The video shows J. Cole in his natural element. Despite the changing scenery, he keeps the same expression and raps the track’s lyrics with precision. Check out the video for “Middle Child” here.
