British singer and songwriter, Nao, has come out with her sophomore album, ‘Saturn.’ The album released on Friday (Oct. 26th) and features 13 tracks. ‘Saturn’ is preceded by her 2016 hit debut album ‘For All We Know.’
‘Saturn’ features the previously released singles “Another Lifetime,” “Make It Out Alive” featuring SiR, and “If You Ever.” She showcases her unique and dynamic vocals on the cohesive and meaningful album. Each track seems to tell a piece of a larger story, revolving around growth out of past ways and into a more mindful state. On the interlude “Saturn’s Return,” she emphasizes the importance of letting go of past hurt, relationships, and even jobs for the sake of rebirth.
When asked about the inspiration behind her album, Nao revealed:
“My friends kept telling me about the term Saturn Returns. It’s this idea that Saturn takes 29 years to orbit from when you’re born and it is the planet of blessings and growth…You start to rethink everything — old stuff that your parents taught you or ideas that you believed in. It’s like a complete shedding of skin and it can be painful.”
In an interview with Ebro Darden, Nao likened Saturn’s return to coming of age all over again. ‘Saturn’ is now available on all streaming platforms.
